As the year 2023 draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the progress and achievements that SUBC Engineering has made throughout the year. It has been a year of growth, expansion and success thanks to dedication and hard work of our team.
In the third quarter of 2023, SUBC Brazil excelled in providing high-quality manpower services for BOP maintenance and inspection. Our subsea engineers worked tirelessly to support our contractor's assets, including rigs such as Valaris, Ventura, Seadrill, Transocean P10000, and Mykonos. Additionally, we had the privilege working on rig reactivation phases 1 and 2 in Singapore and South Africa. Our presence extended to Guyana and Suriname, where we supported drilling scopes on various rigs. The upcoming reactivation stage of the Transocean Orion in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, marks another milestone in our journey. The demand for our specialist subsea engineering, project lead, and management services on a global scale has been both challenging and rewarding for our team.
In June, SUBC UK celebrated 13 years in business. We have grown steadily to become a trusted provider of Subsea Engineers and Subsea Project Managers, delivering diverse work scopes such as BOP & Choke Manifold changeouts and major 5-year SPS Special Periodic Surveys across Europe. With a team of 65 Subsea Engineers and 10 Subsea Project Engineers, we supported offshore work scopes in the UK North Sea, Norwegian North Sea, Las Palmas, and Offshore Turkey. Our strategic global reach has allowed us to assist drilling contractors efficiently and cost-effectively, minimising travel expenses for operators.
In mid 2023, we emphasised our commitment to supporting our clients with rig reactivations, SPS special periodic surveys, and crew positions across various locations worldwide. Our subsea engineering teams worked tirelessly day and night, ensuring that our contractor's rigs and platforms operated smoothly. The demand for our services and expertise was overwhelming, and we have been able to provide flexible and contractual support to drilling contractors. Whether it was a short-term project or full crew relief cover, the SUBC team were there to support.
At the beginning of the year, we welcomed Jill Rennie as our new UK Operations Manager. Jill's passion for building relationships and providing excellent customer service aligns perfectly with the values that define our team's success.
Looking ahead to 2024, SUBC remains committed to growth, development, and success. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our dedicated staff, contractors, supportive suppliers, and loyal customer's that have played a vital role in our journey. As the year draws to a close, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued trust and partnership. We wish you all the best for the forthcoming festive period and continued success in 2024.

SUBC UK began business in Aberdeen in 2010, at the tail end of a decade-long energy crisis, with surging demand and stagnant oil and gas production, however, the historically high level of oil and gas production and prices in the first 2 years of business allowed us to focus on supplying subsea engineers and subsea project managers at short notice to global destinations, supporting the requirements of several drilling contractors.
Today, SUBC Engineering Ltd are active in a number of work scopes including BOP & Choke Manifold change outs and major 5-year SPS Special Periodic Surveys across Europe. Manpower includes 65 Subsea Engineers and 10 Subsea Project Engineers. Additionally, SUBC is assisting with offshore work scopes between well rig moves in the UK North Sea, Norwegian North Sea, Las Palmas and Offshore Turkey.
SUBC have engineers located in different areas around the world and is in pole position to support drilling contractors worldwide. We assist drilling contractors on a flexible and contractual basis, supplying subsea engineers for a few days, and full crew relief cover to suit the drilling contractor’s schedule and project requirements. Importantly, our global hub of strategically located subsea engineers means that we are efficient and cost-effective, and able to avoid long-haul travel expenses for the operator.
Colin Burney - MD commented … “We appreciate all the help and support we have received over the last 13 years, our business has grown from a handful of subsea engineers to over 150 worldwide. Our global aspirations have seen SUBC open an additional office in the USA in 2015, our first office in Brazil in 2019 and Singapore in 2020. It’s truly been a rewarding 13 years, and on behalf of SUBC, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff, subsea engineers, clients, partners and suppliers who have played a vital part in our journey over the years, enabling us to reach our goal. It’s been a team achievement that’s defined our business success and our global reputation.”
Day and night, our subsea engineering teams are supporting our contractor’s semi-submersible rigs, jack-up rigs, drilling platforms and drillships around the globe.
